 The Da Nang municipal People’s Committee held a press conference on September 14 to announce information on the preparation and supporting activities for the fifth Asian Beach Games (ABG5).

Accordingly, the city worked with ABG5’s organizing panel to prepare sites and facilities for sporting events and for information dissemination of the games.
Supporting projects that the city has been invested in include reclaiming and leveling land, installing mobile stands, electric lighting systems, mobile toilets, locker rooms, security fences and gates, parking lots and ensuring power and water supplies.
As for information dissemination, the organizing panel conducted various activities to promote ABG5 by providing information to the press and related agencies, hanging banners, posters on roads, placed 14 standees and ABG5’s mascot at the Danang International airport. In short, the city has geared up to ensure security, medicine, logistics and other public services for the games.
The city’s Department of Culture and Sports will also organize a number of activities on the sidelines of the games, like cultural festivals and exchanges, street dances and public shows of traditional costumes of the participating countries.
According to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the games are expected to draw the participation of 10,000 people, including 3,100 athletes and 1,500 coaches and officials from 42 countries and territories, 550 technical experts and international referees and 900 domestic referees, over 1,500 volunteers and about 600 domestic and international reporters.
ABG5 can serve as an opportunity to popularize Vietnam’s landscape and people as well as strengthen friendship relations between participating countries.
