Unlike normal days, most of athelets at the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5) have different daily meals with various ingredients. Therefore,  the chef of each hotel has to work almost every day. Mr. Tali Rfinnd, head of the Maldives sports delegation expressed his interest: “We do not know how did the chef cooked the meal so that people have the feeling that they were eating at home. All of the dishes are delicious and taste like home.”
According to representatives from the hotels, in addition to main meals with rich menu, athletes could enjoy snacks after competitions. They are very fond of “banh duc” (steamed rice cake), “banh goi” (a type of dumpling wrapped in “dong” (phrynium placentarium) leaves, and other traditional foods of Vietnamese rural areas.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, CEO at the Grand Sea Hotel said the organising committee requires each hotel to prepare at least 35 menus with different dishes every day, but our hotel have 40 menus available for sports delegations to choose from. Apart from main meals, the guests can select from myriads snacks in which the dining rooms are open throughout the day.  It’s strange that athletes are very fond of  “banh nam” (flat steamed rice dumpling), “banh loc” (steamed clear tapioca cake), “banh duc” (steamed rice cake), and regional special dishes. They said that Vietnamese gastronomy is very interesting
