The Philippines nabbed another gold medal from jiu-jitsu in the ongoing 5th Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Annie Ramirez shut down Deepudsa Siramol, 10-0, in the women’s -55kg division to bag her second jiu-jitsu gold medal in the biennial event, according to a report on Spin.
Ramirez duplicated her feat a couple of years ago when she claimed the gold in -60kg division in Phuket, Thailand.
It was the Philippines' second gold in this year's Asian Beach Games following Margarita Ochoa's first place win in the newaza women's 45-kg category last Sunday.
The Philippines also won two bronze medals following the third-place victories set by Jenina Napolis and Apryl Eppinger.
Napolis placed third in the same weight division as Ramirez, while former cyclist Eppinger also grabbed the bronze in the women’s -62kg class.
The country now has two gold, a silver and nine bronze medals.
Gian Dee claimed a silver in the -62kg men's jujitsu while the Filipino bronze medal winners include Lloyd Dennis Catipon, Helen Dawa, and Jenielou Mosqueda in kurash; Josefina Maat, Gelyn Evora, and Deseree Autor in beach sepak takraw women; and Meratela Torres-Sunang in long jump.
