We all win .....
The 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5) officially wrapped up with a closing ceremony on the night of October 3 after more than 10 competition days took place at four different places on the beach of Da Nang, the host city.
With joys and friendship being felt everywhere, the Games was a success, and a victory for all participants, in spite of which roles they played.
The closing ceremony was attended by
Nguyen Ngoc Thien, a Party Central Committee member, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Head of the ABG5 Organizing Board; Tran Binh Minh - a Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director General of Vietnam Television; Timothy Fok – Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia; Hoang Tuan Anh - President of the Vietnam Olympics Committee; Le Khanh Hai - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the ABG 5 Organizing Board; Huynh Duc Tho - Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the People's Committee, of Da Nang city, and Deputy Head of the ABG 5 Steering Committee; Vuong Bich Thang -Chief of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Deputy Standing Head of the Organizing Board; Dang Viet Dung - Vice President of the Da Nang People's Committee, Head of the municipal organizing board and others.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien stressed that: "Regardless of their ages and religions, athletes joined the Games not only to seek for the glory of their nations and territories but also for sharing their wonderful cultures, joys and the noble friendship. Victory is for everyone who took part in the Games, the victory of passion, determination, solidarity, and amity between Asians in a peaceful world always looking towards a brighter future."
Mr. Timothy Fok shared the wonderful things he experienced during the Games and declared the Games a success. He also announced the closing of the event.
The closing ceremony was designed as a review of what had happened during the past competition days and also as a reflection of atheletes performing all-out to shine. Music blended with participating sports delegations re-staged young, tense, harsh competitions that upheld the noble spirit of sports over the past ten days on Da Nang's beach were presented.
Together with the athletes, young dynamic volunteers, warm local and foreign fans, friendly local people, international media and tourists have contributed their significant part to to the theme "Shining ocean-Bright future" of the Games
ABG5 closed with the flag-lowering ritual, the extinguishing of the Games cauldron and the hand-over of the Games flag.
Goodbye, Da Nang City! Goodbye those days when we immersed into sunlight and wind in the central beach, as well as the breath and spirit of sports; ABG5 will stay forever in the minds of those people who joined hands to make it a huge success.
