The organizing committee of the 5th Asian Beach Games in Danang, Vietnam, in September 2016 has issued the official logo and mascot following approval by the Olympic Council of Asia. The logo is designed to simulate waves and sand in the shape of young and dynamic athletes performing sport (volleyball, handball) with the symbol of the OCA inside.
With the power and strength of sport, all parts of the logo rise up to form a big V shape (signifying Vietnam, Victory and V for 5) that affirm the role of the host country, highlight the spirit of competition and the athletes’ hopes of winning.
The combination of sea and sand waving together reflects the strength and strong will of Vietnamese sport and carries the message of friendliness and a warm welcome for all delegations.
It represents the solidarity and friendship of the Asian sports family with the expectation of a successful 5th Asian Beach Games.
The mascot is a swiftlet, a special characteristic of the coastal Central South of Vietnam which is famous for birds' nests - a valuable product in general and a specialty of Khanh Hoa province in particular. The swiftlet mascot has a V-shaped tail and is holding a torch which represents solidarity, peace and vitality. The OCA sun and the traditional waves on the outfit symbolize the Asian Beach Games.
The colors are blue, red, black and yellow which represent the blue sea, yellow sand and the bird’s feathers. The mascot is expected to touch people’s hearts and become a much sought-after souvenir.
