The Chefs de Mission Seminar for the Olympic Council of Asia’s 5th Asian Beach Games this September came to an end with a venue tour followed by official dinner on Wednesday.
After a 90-minute meeting in the morning, the delegates from 38 National Olympic Committees visited two of the luxury hotels which will accommodate athletes in certain sports, as well as the promenade setting for the opening and closing ceremony and one of the four venue clusters on the beach.
Delegates were very impressed with the quality of both the Grand Mercure Hotel in Danang City and the Grand Tourane Hotel on the sea front, agreeing that athletes would be provided with the right environment and conditions to produce their best performance. The welcome dinner was held at the Royal Lotus Hotel Convention Centre, and took place to a backdrop of traditional Vietnamese dance, song and music.
The Chairman of Organising Committee DABGOC, Vice Minister Le Khanh Hai, welcomed the delegates to Danang and said the CDM Seminar had been a great success. “We have reached agreement on a series of fundamental issues in regards to the preparations for the 5th Asian Beach Games,” he said. “We will cooperate and work together with solidarity, a noble spirit and with honesty.”
The 5th Asian Beach Games will take place from September 24 to October 3, 2016, with around 3,000 athletes competing in 14 sports, 22 disciplines and 172 events. The President of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh, also attended the official dinner.
