Vietnamese wrestler Nguyen Thi Lua secured a spot in the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics, her second consecutive berth, as she made it to the last competition at an Asian qualifier on Friday.
Lua, 26, beat Uzbekistan’s Zukhra Mustanova to advance into the finale of the women’s 53kg category at the 2016 Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kazakhstan.

The Vietnamese wrestler eventually lost 2-8 to Mongolian Erdenechimegiin Sumiyaa, but a berth in the final game is enough to qualify her for the Games in Brazil this summer.

The 2016 Olympic Wrestling Asian Qualification Tournament was the second regional qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympics, with the top two wrestlers in each weight class given a qualification spot for their nation.

Lua will have her second straight Games journey, after winning a berth to the London 2012 Olympics.

Born in Hanoi, Nguyen Thi Lua is one of the best wrestlers in Asia and is unbeatable in Southeast Asia.

Lua is the seventh Vietnamese athlete so far to have won a spot in the Olympics, taking place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro.
